Plague Ship serves as the fifth book in The Oregon Files series written by Clive Cussler and Jack Du Brul. It is nautical and adventure fiction. It recounts a series of attacks on cruise ships by a certain extremist group who want the world’s population to become sterile. Scott Brick is the narrator of this book. He has given us a solid performance. The experience of enjoying this novel increases two-folds because of his voice.
There is a group referred to as “The Responsivists” who are in reality of a group of “Scientologists”. They are about to let loose a virus on the face of the earth that will threaten the very survival of human beings.
Juan Cabrillo and his crew have just arrived from a top-secret mission to recover a torpedo from Iran that was sold to them by the Russian Federation. They discover a cruise ship adrift at sea. On the ship, everyone is dead. The cause is determined to be hemorrhagic fever, similar to the Ebola virus. Juan barely makes it back alive as the ship was lined with explosives. Now, he finds himself in a race for the survival of humanity.
This is an interesting book that grabs your attention from the start and doesn’t let go till the very end. The characters in the book are also very realistic. There is no black and white, good and evil in this novel. You might even be rooting for the other side.
