Review 1: The Lies We Told audiobook by Cora Grimes
Very Slow Pace
Most of the book consists of the two sisters moaning about not revealing their guilty secrets to each other. The story is quite predictable until at least 90% or so, to the point where the reader gets anxious just to get it over with. There are a couple twists and surprises at the end, but they are essentially revealed as an aside, like ‘oh, now that has happened so things are different ‘. The basic story concept had a lot of potential, but in my opinion, the author did not make the best use of it to keep the reader engaged.
Review 2: The Lies We Told audiobook by Pamela Burns
Very moving. Couldn’t put it down
I always love Diane Chamberlains books. I wish a previous reviewer hadn’t told me the end since it would have been a huge surprise but I was okay with how it ended. How anyone could say this book was boring, I don’t know. I couldn’t put it down. It was a bit unbelievable but I really got attached to the characters and love how the story evolved and told us bits of the accident throughout the book and how both sisters found themselves.
Review 3: The Lies We Told audiobook by Kristen H
Slow story and frustrating ending
I hate when you finish a story and you’re angry because you feel so much injustice for the characters that you’ve grown to known over the past several hours. Although Chamberlain may have thought she wrapped up the story in a nice, neat bow, it was a terrible and unacceptable ending. Not to mention, it was slow throughout and just downright boring at times.
